#SOWL AT THE BUSH SUMMIT

Your support helps us protect the woodlands of New South Wales, woodlands that are disappearing as we speak.  Woodlands that are critical habitats to many species.

 WHY WERE WE PROTESTING?:

We are opposed to the industrialisation of our beautiful New England countryside.

We are concerned that a proposed wind farm will decimate 35,000 hectares of NSW woodlands.  [LEARN MORE HERE.]

We are concerned about the placement of wind farms and solar factories, along with transmission lines – and the roads needed to build and support and maintain the same.

We protested because we believe that locations need to be very carefully considered to best protect the biodiversity of NSW and threatened species.

WHERE DID WE PROTEST?

The Bush Summit.  Venue Tamworth TREC. (Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre), Greg Norman Drive, Hillvue NSW 2340

THANK YOU to all who came out to be with us, and to all who shared on social media and via email.  And as always, thank you to those who donate so that we can continue to protect woodlands that would otherwise be destroyed.

OUR ENGAGEMENT WITH,

AND OUR APPRECIATION OF THE BUSH HAS “DIMINISHED”…

As Australia becomes a more “urbanised nation”, our engagement with, and our appreciation of the bush has “diminished”, says Resources Minister Madeleine King. “Over 86 percent of us live in big capital cities,” Ms King said at Perth’s Bush Summit on Monday. “Most of Australia’s job and economic opportunities have gravitated to the suburbs and inner cities in contrast to decades past.”

GREAT QUESTION!

We are planning on protesting next on the lawns of Parliament House in Canberra.

Be sure to follow our social media accounts and join our mailing list for all the details about when.

We plan to highlight how renewables are turning land that should be preserved as habitat for a wide variety of species – including endangered – and into “industrial landscapes”.

Save Our Woodlands is an environmentally conscious group of volunteers dedicated to preserving threatened birds, animals and ecosystems in the woodlands of New South Wales, Australia.

Only 15% of our woodlands remain, the rest has been cleared for agriculture.

Save Our Woodlands Inc. secures and protects woodlands in NSW and pays landholders, in perpetuity, to conserve, enhance and re-establish native woodlands on THEIR land, and to manage these woodlands, so they are maintained.

BUT we need YOUR help.  Together we can bring about change.  Please consider donating.

People tend to think that woodlands are “just bush,” consequently, over 85% of the native woodlands in New South Wales, Australia have been replaced by agriculture.

Donate $10 per month & help protect critical habitats.   By doing so YOU will prevent further species from extinction.

Our work is only possible with your support.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
