GORGEOUS IMAGES FROM THE BBC

THANK YOU to our friend Coleen in New Brunswick, Canada for sharing this article from the BBC.

We hope you’ll find the photographs as stunning as we did and we loved the thought-provoking introduction too.

Coleen (and her husband) had massive solar panels installed on their farm long before it was “cool”, they were among — if not — the very first in their province to do so.

They drive an electric vehicle, keep organic vegetable gardens and of course recycle.

Even with all they have already accomplished, Coleen is constantly tweaking their home, land and lifestyle to be as eco-friendly as possible.  In other words, she’s one of our heroes.

Again, thank you Coleen for sharing this article.

A stunning image of a young polar bear drifting to sleep on an iceberg, by British amateur photographer Nima Sarikhani, has won the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award.

“Sarikhani’s breathtaking and poignant image allows us to see the beauty and fragility of our planet,” Natural History Museum director Dr Douglas Gurr said.

“His thought-provoking image is a stark reminder of the integral bond between an animal and its habitat and serves as a visual representation of the detrimental impacts of climate warming and habitat loss.”

Sarikhani made the image after three days searching for polar bears through thick fog off Norway’s Svalbard archipelago.

Wildlife photography and nature fans from around the world were invited to vote from a short list of 25 images.

Four other outstanding finalists were “highly commended”.

We need your help to continue to protect precious habitats in New South Wales.

Save Our Woodlands has secured 4 significant tracks of land but funding is still needed for each.

Additionally, we are raising funds to build 4 km of wildlife-friendly fencing to keep stock out of precious and protected in perpetuity habitats of endangered and at risk species.

Save Our Woodlands is an environmentally conscious group of volunteers dedicated to preserving threatened birds, animals and ecosystems in the woodlands of New South Wales, Australia.

Only 15% of our woodlands remain, the rest has been cleared for agriculture.

Save Our Woodlands Inc. secures and protects woodlands in NSW and pays landholders, in perpetuity, to conserve, enhance and re-establish native woodlands on THEIR land, and to manage these woodlands, so they are maintained.

BUT we need YOUR help.  Together we can bring about change.  Please consider donating.

People tend to think that woodlands are “just bush,” consequently, over 85% of the native woodlands in New South Wales, Australia have been replaced by agriculture.

Donate $10 per month & help protect critical habitats.   By doing so YOU will prevent further species from extinction.

Our work is only possible with your support.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
