HELP RELOCATE PROPOSED WINDFARM
Save Our Woodlands are NOT against renewable energy BUT the Yarrowyck/Booralong area is a precious environmental resource with high biodiversity.
It is an important habitat for the critically endangered regent honeyeater, it is part of the migratory route of swift parrots and critical habitat for the endangered koala.
Surely a more suitable area can be found instead of at Yarrowyck and Booralong as proposed by EDF Renewables.
WE ARE NOT AGAINST RENEWABLE ENERGY
AGAIN, Save Our Woodlands are not against renewable energy, but we DO NOT want windfarms situated where they will destroy our endangered woodlands.
85% of woodlands in NSW have been wiped out, we need to preserve what we have left — not bulldoze it away.
There are over 150 endangered and vulnerable species indigenous to our woodlands including the Regent Honey Eater, Swift parrot and threatened Koala do we need to lose any more of their habitat?
WE SUPPORT WINDFARMS IN CERTAIN LOCATIONS
There are thousands of hectares of bare hills in the Uralla shire which could support windfarms without destroying Yarrowyck woodlands.
OUR GOVERNMENT IS SPENDING MONEY TO PROTECT HABITATS YET…
Currently, our government is spending large amounts of money preserving areas of Koala habitat, while it is allowing a wind farm, which will destroy the same habitat.
One has to wonder about the thinking patterns of the “powers that be.”
Windfarms need large areas of cleared ground just to manipulate the 80-metre blades into position, they also need extensive road works, a concrete manufacturing plant and huge towers to transport power back to the grid.
The idea that the “footprint” of a wind turbine is eight metres is slightly rash with the truth. [Learn more here.]

Dear _______________________,
I/We respectively wish to register our opposition to the wind farm at Yarrowyck and Booralong proposed by EDF Renewables.
I/We are not against renewable energy BUT the Yarrowyck/ Booralong area is a precious environmental resource with high biodiversity and is home to the critically endangered regent honeyeater, swift parrot on their migratory routes and the endangered koala.
Windfarms kill both birds and bats which do not recognise that the blades are turning, and large areas of woodland will have to be destroyed to accommodate the wind turbines.
There are thousands of hectares of bare hills in the Uralla shire which could support windfarms without destroying Yarrowyck woodlands.
We have already destroyed 85% of the woodlands in NSW -- now it is time to stop and consider if we want to live in a desert.
There is no point in trying to save the planet with renewable energy while destroying the environment.
Respectfully,
Include your full name,

WIND FARMS? SOLAR FARMS? OR MIGHT NUCLEAR BE THE ANSWER?
We're sharing this short video even though it is a few years old because we found so many of the points Michael Shellenberger makes valid.
His "story" starts in California, USA and includes examples from Germany, the Netherlands and France - and even though this video doesn't specifically mention Australia - we feel that the implications are global.
